welcome to Alamo Stitchin Post: Stitching Our Community Together

For over 20 years we’ve served Windcrest and the greater San Antonio area with dedicated sewing machine sales, repair, and instruction. This page explains our origin, our team’s expertise, what drives our mission, and how our local shop supports creative makers of all levels.

Our Story and Mission

Alamo Stitchin Post opened in 2003 with a simple purpose: to provide quality sewing machines, attentive repair, knowledgeable teaching, and a curated selection of supplies to the Windcrest community. Our founders recognized a need for local, technical expertise and a welcoming place for people to learn sewing skills. Over time, we expanded to include classes, custom quilting, scissor sharpening, and a range of services that support hobbyists, professionals, and families. Our mission is to keep creativity accessible. We believe everyone should have the tools and knowledge to sew, mend, and create. That plays out in the personalized consultations we provide, the small-group format of our classes, and the thoroughness of our repair work.

Our Team

Our staff combines technicians, educators, and retail specialists. Technicians have experience servicing mechanical and computerized sewing and embroidery machines, including timing adjustments, motor diagnostics, and electronic module repairs. Our instructors are patient, experienced, and skilled at translating technical concepts into actionable steps. Retail team members can guide you through selecting the right thread, needle, or accessory.

Our Repair Philosophy

We believe in transparent, honest repair practices. Diagnostic service begins with a clear explanation of the issue, followed by an estimate and approval before any work is completed. We prioritize using genuine manufacturer parts when available, along with tested repair techniques to restore function and extend machine life. We document services and provide maintenance recommendations to prevent future problems.

Sustainability Through Repair

Repairing machines extends their useful life and supports sustainable consumption. Rather than discarding a machine at the first sign of trouble, let our technicians evaluate and repair it. Many older machines, when serviced correctly, deliver years more reliable performance.

Custom Quilting and Quilt Repair

Our custom quilting services are designed for quilters who want professional quilting on home-sewn tops, repairs for heirloom quilts, or finishing for bed-sized projects. We consult on design choices, batting, thread selection, and quilting motifs that complement your top. Repairs include patching, re-stitching seams, and restoring quilt integrity.

Scissor Sharpening and Tool Care

Quality scissors and shears are vital. Dull blades slow progress and damage fabric. Our scissor sharpening service restores crisp cutting edges and extends tool life. We sharpen household scissors, dressmaking shears, and specialty quilting scissors with precision techniques and careful testing.

Customer Testimonials

Many customers highlight our knowledgeable staff, convenient location, and quick, quality repairs. Quilters appreciate our thread selection and constructive feedback on finishing techniques. Beginners often comment on how instructors demystified machine setup and sewing basics. These testimonials reflect the consistent care and trusted relationships we've built.
